MOUNT EPHRAIM POLICE DEPARTMENT

MARY BRAY SCHOOL TRAFFIC PLAN (2009)

I want to make you aware of the new traffic plan that has been instituted for the area surrounding the Mary Bray Elementary School. (See Attached Diagram)

Your Police and Fire Departments’ along with the School Administrators’ and Borough Commissioners’ want you to understand why these changes were made.

1.  The safety of our children. This is our highest priority and everything being done is for the safety of our children. Given our environmental and architectural challenges we must find a way to make our “old walk up style” school work with our 2009 lifestyles. The decision to move all of the entrances to Station Avenue was a result of monitoring the dangers that presented themselves on Kings Highway.

2.  Easy drop off and pick up using a vehicle. You should be able to drop off and pick up your child in close proximity to the exits/entrances of the school relatively quickly. All of our parents need to help us and each other by keeping the drop off/pick up under 30 seconds. If we all keep this in mind, Station Avenue will not become congested and impassable. Please realize that on a day with bad weather we could face some 350 cars in 20 mins.

3.  Fire Department Activity – The Fire Department Building on Station Avenue is an active Fire Station and will continue to be the Fire Department’s primary location during construction of the new fire house on Bell Road. Therefore the fire house driveways and the areas directly across from the driveways must not be blocked. The fire apparatus is very large and needs significant room to make the turn in/out of the building.

OVERVIEW:

All Students with the exception of Pre-K and Buses will enter the building on Station Avenue.

Station Ave between Kings Highway and Gaskill Avenue:

Parking is allowed at all times by anyone on the Rail Road Tracks Side.
