Voice Mail is available before and after school hours for your messages.
You may reach a teacher’s voice mail by selecting the appropriate options
as indicated by the phone messaging system.

The school website is: www.mtephraimschools.org
Check often for updates to the monthly newsletter, school news, homework, etc.
Mary Bray and R. W. Kershaw School Homework can be accessed from the website weekly.

When calling in a late/absent student, you should phone the school which your child attends.  Please place this call prior to 8:30 AM.   If your child is being dismissed early, a note must be sent with your child to the main office.  E-mail early dismissal notes can be sent to Mrs. Guldin ( lguldin@mtephraimschools.org ) for the Kershaw School, and Mrs. Clark ( cclark@mtephraimschools.org  ) for the Mary Bray School.  You can access a teacher's email through the district's website.

Students are not permitted to receive or make phone calls unless there is an extreme emergency.  Please make sure that your children know where to go after school, have their lunch and homework, and are properly attired for the forecasted weather.

Parents who transport their children to the Mary Bray School are asked to drop off students on the Mary Bray side of Kings Highway in the "Drop-Off Zone."

The No Parking During School Hours Zone in front of Mary Bray School will be strictly enforced by the Mt. Ephraim Police Department.    Student safety is our major concern.

Both Mary Bray and R. W. Kershaw School have a “buzzer” system to gain entry.  School hallways, entrances and property are monitored by a camera and recording system.

All persons entering the school buildings are requested to report to the school office immediately.

Lockers:
Lockers are the property of the school and may be used only for the temporary storage of the students’ personal items and school material.  They are subject to periodic administrative inspections with or without prior notice.

Medications:
If your child needs to take any medication in school, by doctors orders, you should call the school nurse for information and direction.

Vacations:
The school discourages student absenteeism due to family vacations.  Time lost from classroom teacher’s instruction cannot be regained.  Parents are advised that student vacations severely interrupt the learning process.  Tests and missed instruction may not be replicated due to time constraints.

Communications Devices:
Students are not permitted to use beepers, phones or any other form of communication device during school hours..

Preschool Children:
Our child study team will provide evaluations of preschool children (ages 3-5) suspected of having a developmental problem.  If you have a child under 3 years of age who is suspected of having a delay in growth or overall    development, our child study team can refer you to an Early Intervention Program.

Pupil Records:
In accordance with requirements of NJ Administrative Code, title 6, ch. 3 entitled "Pupil Records" local school districts must notify parents annually of their rights with regard to pupil records.  Pupil records shall only contain information which is relevant to the education of the pupil and is objectively based on the personal observations or knowledge of the originator of the record.
As parents, you and your child have a right to individual privacy and the right to know concerning information gathered by the school.  If you have any questions or wish to examine your child's file at any time, you may arrange to do so by making an appointment in the school's office.

Equality in Education:
All members of the student body, staff and community are to be informed that according to Title IX and NJAC 6/4 the Mt. Ephraim Public Schools believe that: “No person in the United states shall, on the basis of sex, race, color or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefit of or be subject to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving any outside financial assistance.”

In accordance with the Federal Hazard Emergency Response Act (40 CFR Subpart E Section 763/84{c}).  We inform you that in July, 1998, the required AHERA Three (3) Year Reinspection was performed at the R. W. Kershaw and Mary Bray Schools to update the Asbestos Management Plan for change of condition of all or any asbestos containing materials present in the buildings.

The Inspection Report, Management Plan, and 6 Month Surveillance Reports are available for your review between the hours of 8:30AM and 3:00PM on regular school days upon five (5) working days notice by contacting the Mount Ephraim Board of Education Office at 931-4134.  Our asbestos program management services are provided by Environmental Design Inc.

As per Ch. 364, Laws of 1998, in the event that the Mt. Ephraim Schools will engage in construction or other activities involving the use of any hazardous substance, a notice will be posted on a bulletin board in the school.  This will include the use of or storage of hazardous substances within the facility at various times throughout the year.  Such notice will be posted at least 2 days in advance, unless there exists an emergency in which case the notice shall be posted as soon as practicable.  Hazardous Substance Fact Sheets on the particular substances will be available for inspection in the offices of the schools.

Standardized Testing:

The following tests will be given on the dates indicated:
